This is a brief glimpse of the process of taking a photograph or idea and turing it into a painting.
The images capture the process after the an initial drawing has been completed and the painting process has begun.

The initial drawing has been completed and I have started laying down the basic colors, not yet worrying too much about capturing different values.
A little further along with the basic colors, adding more detail to the face and the reflections in the face shield.
Continuing with the flat color overlay with a little shading applied with an airbrush to the side of the helmet.
More shading added along with some of the details on the helmet. I have started laying in the reflections on the parts of the car that are visible.
More details and reflections. Most of the painting is now being done with an airbrush and extremely thinned down paints.
More detail and reflections.
I am now starting to add reflections to the blue sections of the car which are reflecting the clouds in the sky.
The Novo Nordisk logo has been added to the car behind the driver. In the reference photo this was slightly out of focus to provide the viewer with a sense of depth.
From this point on I am just fine-tuning the colors and details in the painting. Bringing up the highlights and darkening the shadow areas. This is done with layer upon layer of transparent airbrush paint.
The final image!
This painting took a total of about 2 months to complete.
